In this quaint village, the pursuit of material wealth and power takes a backseat to something far more profound – the pursuit of righteousness. When asked about their aspirations, one is unlikely to hear ambitions of success or riches. Instead, their desires are conveyed through their eyes, their emotions, which speak volumes about their longing for justice and fairness in a world that often seems unjust.

They are driven by a collective desire to uplift each other, to ensure that no member of their village is left behind through a powerful medium called Communism. The symbol of the hammer and sickle is prominently displayed in the village.

It is within the humble confines of Kizhavenmani that one discovers a village like no other. Here, amidst the simplicity of rural life, lies a wealth of untold stories, of triumphs and tribulations, of dreams deferred and aspirations realized. It is a place where the human spirit shines brightest, where resilience is not merely a trait but a way of life.

Nearly 56 years ago, the tranquility of this community was shattered when a group of thugs and hooligans brutally massacred 44 Dalit laborers who were advocating for fair wages. The heartbreaking aspect of this horrific incident is that 24 of the victims were under the age of 20, with the youngest being just one year old. The sheer callousness and inhumanity displayed in this act are beyond comprehension. It is a deeply saddening and disheartening event, leaving a stain of disgrace on the history of this once-beautiful village. However, as time passes, there remains a glimmer of hope that these innocent souls may find eternal peace.

Despite the immense challenge of healing from this tragedy and instilling values of righteousness and communal harmony among future generations, the village community perseveres with unwavering determination. The legacy of those who lost their lives stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of humanity, transcending the boundaries of social status.

Every year since 1969, on Christmas Day, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has organized the "Venmani Martyrs Day" to commemorate the lives lost in the massacre. This annual event serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made and the ongoing struggle for justice. Visiting this memorial is not only an opportunity to pay respects but also a chance to witness firsthand the resilience and solidarity of the community.

As we reflect on the beauty of Venmani, Kizhavenmani, let us be reminded of the resilience and strength that resides within each of us. Let us draw inspiration from the unyielding spirit of its people, who, despite facing adversity, continue to persevere with grace and dignity. In a world often marred by strife and discord, Kizhavenmani stands as a beacon of hope, reminding us that even in the face of adversity, the human spirit has the power to triumph.
